Human Resources – People Basics

                A workshop by HR Specialists for Business Owners

The primary purpose of this 1.5 hour workshop is to provide Business Owners with a practical introduction to the knowledge areas required to effectively manage the people side of their business and build a human resource plan that is an integral part of the business planning cycle.  This session is geared to businesses of all sizes and scope, regardless if you are just starting out or have an established business with only a few employees, or hundreds.

Specifically, at the end of the workshop participants will:

• Understand the important components of a human resource plan
• Acquire an appreciation and basic knowledge of legislation affecting employees
• Understand the importance of an employment contract and performance management
• Identify critical HR policies and procedures that need to be developed and implemented
• Acquire access to resources that will assist them in people management

Workshop Facilitator – Bruce Weippert, Senior Consultant of Salopek & Associates.

Bruce is a Certified Human Resources Professional with more than 25 years of leadership experience as a management consultant and senior human resources executive/business partner. Bruce has worked in senior leadership roles in Canada and internationally with companies in the technology, hospitality, customer care, and manufacturing sectors.  As a consultant, Bruce has worked as a strategist and services provider with clients in the Private, Not-for-profit and Federal Government business segments.  Bruce’s experience as a business owner, leading positive change and delivering progressive management and HR services to the organizations he has worked with has allowed him to bring a practical and integrated business perspective to the role of HR. Bruce specializes in all aspects of the human resources field; his experience spans work in the areas of recruitment and selection, training and development, employment legislation, performance management, change management and business transformations, organizational structuring and re-alignment, and HR project management.
